ORGANISERS of the Nissan Figaro’s 25th anniversary party have revealed more highlights that visitors can expect to see when a fleet of Figaros from across Europe and the UK congregate in the West-Midlands. To celebrate the milestone, they predict a world record rally of the pint sized classic cars.

The special two-day event celebrating the 25TH anniversary of the cute car takes place at Wroxall Abbey Estate on June 4th & 5th 2016.  The birthday bash will feature over two hundred fabulous Figaros and devoted Figgy fanatics as they gather to honour the occasion in the picturesque setting of the abbey grounds.

Only 20,000 were manufactured and produced only in Japan in 1991 but despite the limited numbers the cars have seen a significant rise in popularity in the UK with import figures rocketing alongside the recent popularity of all that is vintage.

After a glittering gala dinner dance on the Saturday evening, on the Sunday, a vintage themed Figaro Fair will be open to the public for kids and adults to enjoy with family activities including a treasure hunts, stalls, food, raffles and live entertainment.

A special Figaro Car Rally will feature all the Figaros in what is expected to be a world record sized rally extravaganza. Drivers will take to the tarmac in a colourful parade along Birmingham Road (A4141) and Old Warwick Road (B4439).

The event is set to be a spectacle for both classic car enthusiasts and the public, with many of the Figaro’s having undergone loving refurbishments and featuring a range of crazy colours and customizations alongside the original four shades Topaz Mist, Pale Aqua, Emerald Green and Lapis Grey.

The Figaro Owners Club is thriving with members across the world.  Founder Kevin Fagan, and organizer of this event, is hoping West Midland’s locals will join the celebrations to help make the weekend memorable for everyone as they mark the car’s 25th birthday.

“We are going to celebrate in true style and look forward to taking a short Rally Drive Out for a record-breaking magnificent motoring spectacle” he says.

The Figaro car was launched in 1989 at Tokyo’s Motor Show. Designed by Shoji Takahashi, it was manufactured by Nissan but sold without the Nissan name badge. Built with a Micra chassis, engine and added turbo, they were the first cars to have a CD player and were luxuriously equipped with leather seats, air conditioning, an open roof and bags of style.

Members of the public interested in the Nissan Figaro and who wish to know more about the classic car are encouraged to attend the family-friendly event on Sunday. Gates open from 10.00.
