Grassington Players will be performing The Ladykillers later this month, a stage adaptation of the classic Ealing cinema comedy of 1955 with a gang of oddball master criminals masquerading as a string quintet whilst plotting a dastardly crime in the home of their oblivious elderly landlady.

A huge success in the West End, the script has been devised by Graham Linehan of the Father Ted team and provides plenty of scope for some of Craven’s most talented amateur thespians.  With an ambitious set conceived by Barrie Doyle and his team, the loan of several musical instruments and a host of period costumes and props the stage is set for a darkly comic story.

John Anderson takes on the sinister Alex Guiness role of Professor Marcus, with Jane Ellison-Bates cast as his counterpoint, the bewildered Mrs Wilberforce originally played by Katie Johnson. They are ably supported by an experienced cast who promise a killer of a show, directed by master of comedy, Mark Bamforth.

Tickets are available at £7 in advance of the day from Grassington Hub on 01756 752222 for the production on Thursday 22nd, Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th October at the Devonshire Institute (the Town Hall) beginning at 7.30pm.  Tickets will also be available on the door at £8.
